ABOUT ELLY
I’m Elly, a Certified Infant and Child Sleep Consultant and the founder of Baby Sleep Collective. I work with families to make sense of their baby or young child’s sleep, looking at what may be contributing before deciding what I think needs attention.
That might lead me to recommend changes to settling, feeding, sleep timing, routines, the sleep environment or something else I think is relevant. What matters is working out which of those things actually applies to your child, what I would prioritise and why.

I first saw this with my own daughter. Her sleep was difficult, and for a long time I was focused on the sleep itself and how she was settling. What I didn’t understand at the time was how much feeding was contributing to what was happening.
Once that became clear and we addressed it, her sleep changed too.
That experience stayed with me because it showed me how easy it is to focus on the part you can see, such as the waking or the difficulty settling, without necessarily knowing what is keeping that pattern going.
It doesn’t mean feeding is the explanation when a child isn’t sleeping well. But it did change the questions I became interested in asking about sleep, and eventually the way I learned to look at what might be happening beyond the waking or settling itself.
A baby waking every two hours might need a change to settling. But if feeding isn’t working well, their awake time isn’t quite right or something earlier in the day is affecting how they sleep, changing settling alone may not be where I would start.
The same applies when two children appear to have a very similar sleep problem. The details around it can change what I think matters and what I recommend doing about it.
I’m listening for the answer that changes how I interpret what you’ve already told me, noticing which patterns are relevant and deciding which things I think need attention now and which I would leave alone.
I need to understand enough to tell you what I think matters, what I would do next and why.
I trained as a Certified Infant and Child Sleep Consultant and launched Baby Sleep Collective in 2021. Since then, I’ve worked directly with families across the newborn, baby and toddler years.
That has meant working with sleep at very different stages, from the first three months through to babies learning new ways of settling and toddlers whose sleep is becoming more connected with changing sleep needs and behaviour.
This is the work I do every day: assessing children’s sleep, talking it through with their parents and supporting families as they put my recommendations into practice.
When we talk through your child’s sleep, I’ll explain what I’m noticing as we go and why I think it matters. If there is something I think needs attention, I’ll be direct about it and tell you what I recommend doing.
I don’t want you to finish a consultation with a long list of possibilities to work through yourself. I’ll give you a clear recommendation and talk you through the reasoning behind it, so you understand why I’m asking you to make a particular change and what I want you to focus on.
Once you put those recommendations into practice, what happens next gives us more information. If I think you should continue as planned, I’ll tell you that. If what we’re seeing gives me a reason to adjust something, I’ll explain what I would change and why.

I live in Yamba with my husband and our three children. Our life is fast paced, and between raising three kids, running Baby Sleep Collective and everything else that comes with family life, there is usually plenty going on.
Sleep is genuinely important in our house. Not because everyone sleeps perfectly all the time, but because getting enough of it is part of what keeps us able to live the busy life we do and enjoy it.
A Sleep Clarity Call is where I assess what is happening with your child’s sleep and give you a clear recommendation on what I think should happen next.
