NEWBORN SLEEP SHAPING
Newborn Sleep Shaping is the deeper level of virtual support I may recommend when your family would benefit from a more comprehensive plan for your newborn’s sleep, with support as you put my recommendations into practice.

During the newborn stage, feeding, sleep needs, daily rhythm and settling can shift over relatively short periods. Those changes give me important context when I’m assessing what is happening with your baby’s sleep.
A recommendation that is working well may still be exactly what I would continue with as your baby develops. What matters is being able to interpret what I’m seeing, distinguish a developmental change from something that needs attention, and decide whether I think anything should be done differently.
You’ll complete a comprehensive intake covering your baby’s sleep history and the areas I need to assess in more detail. I’ll review this information before developing your Family Sleep Strategy.
I’ll develop your written Family Sleep Strategy from the deeper assessment, with my recommendations for your baby at their current stage of newborn development.
Once you’ve read your strategy, we’ll meet for 60 minutes on Google Meet to work through it together, answer your questions and make any final adjustments I think are appropriate before you begin.
Over two weeks, we’ll have four 20 minute follow-up consultations. Before each one, I’ll review your baby’s sleep and feeding logs and progress so we can work through how your baby is responding, any questions or implementation difficulties, and whether I recommend continuing as planned or adjusting anything.

FAMILY SLEEP STRATEGY
Your Family Sleep Strategy brings together what I find through the deeper assessment and sets out how I would approach your baby’s sleep during the newborn stage.
Depending on what is relevant for your baby, this may include recommendations around feeding and sleep rhythm, the sleep environment, understanding their cues and cries, and age-appropriate ways of settling and supporting sleep. I may also cover how I would support longer stretches of sleep as development allows, situations I think are likely to be relevant for your baby and useful supporting resources.
The strategy explains what I think is contributing to the sleep patterns I’m seeing and the reasoning behind my recommendations, so you understand what I’m asking you to focus on and why.
Once you’ve read your Family Sleep Strategy, we’ll meet for 60 minutes on Google Meet and work through it together. You can ask questions, and I’ll explain how the recommendations apply in practice so you understand what I’m recommending and why.
We’ll also make any final adjustments I think are appropriate before you begin implementing the strategy.
two weeks of implementation support
Once you begin implementing your Family Sleep Strategy, your two weeks of implementation support begins. During this period, we’ll have four 20 minute follow-up consultations to review how your baby is responding and work through what is happening as you put the strategy into practice.
Before each follow-up, I’ll review your baby’s sleep and feeding logs and progress. During the call, we’ll work through what I’m seeing, any questions that have come up and anything you’ve found difficult to implement. I’ll clarify what I recommend you continue doing and, where I think an adjustment is appropriate, explain what I would change and why.
The two-week period gives me several points at which to assess what is happening while feeding, sleep needs, daily rhythm and settling may be changing. Sometimes what I’m seeing confirms that I would continue with the strategy as it is. If something relevant has changed or your baby’s response points me in a different direction, I can identify that and explain what I recommend from there.

common questions
Newborn Sleep Shaping works on the pieces that support sleep from the beginning. I assess what is relevant for your baby, which may include feeding, sleep pressure and daily rhythm, light exposure and the sleep environment. I also actively work on settling where I think it is appropriate, rather than using settling to compensate for something else that needs attention.
This may involve hands on or other age appropriate settling strategies, then progressively reducing that support as your baby shows they are ready for more space. I’m not expecting independent settling from the outset, but I’m also not necessarily waiting until four months to work on how your baby falls asleep.
It depends on your baby and what I find through my assessment. For one baby, I might recommend hands-on settling in the cot and then gradually reduce how much help the parent provides as the baby begins settling with less assistance. For another baby, I may recommend a different approach.
As we work on settling, some newborns may begin falling asleep with less assistance, and some may eventually go from awake to asleep without hands-on help. I do not expect or promise that as the outcome for every newborn. The important part is that we can actively work on settling during the first three months without expecting a newborn to settle independently from the beginning.
Not automatically. I have newborn routines available and may recommend introducing a routine, rhythm or more structure to the day where I think it would be useful. What I recommend depends on your baby’s age, feeding, sleep needs and what I’m seeing through my assessment, rather than putting every newborn onto the same fixed timetable.
Before each of your four follow-up consultations, I’ll review your baby’s sleep and feeding logs and progress. A change does not automatically mean I would change the strategy. I’ll interpret what is happening in the context of your baby’s stage and response, then recommend whether to continue as planned or adjust something where I think it is appropriate.
Questions and implementation difficulties are worked through during your four scheduled 20 minute follow-up consultations. There is no messaging or question support between consultations.
If something more urgent comes up, I may be able to bring your next scheduled follow-up forward where my availability allows. This is not always possible, but it gives us some flexibility with the timing of an existing consultation when needed.
The Sleep Clarity Call comes first. I’ll assess your baby’s current sleep and recommend Newborn Sleep Shaping if I think this level of planning and implementation support is appropriate. If you continue into Newborn Sleep Shaping, the full $150 Sleep Clarity Call fee is credited towards the $595 package price.
